Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a partner?
Nope! While we teach partner style dancing, this does not mean that you need to take lessons with a partner. If you are coming in individually, you will dance directly with an instructor. If you are coming is as a couple, you will primarily dance together.

Q: What should I wear?
A: There is no specific dress code. Many students like to dress up for class, others like to come in more casually. Please wear what makes you comfortable. As for shoes, most hobbyist dancers will eventually invest in a pair of ballroom shoes. To start, simply wear whatever you are comfortable moving forward and backward in. Hard soles are recommended, but not required. Please note – if it is wet, muddy, snowy, etc. outside please plan to change shoes when you arrive. As a courtesy to other dancers, please do not wear wet shoes into the studio or on to the dance floor.

Q: Do I need dance experience?
A: Not at all. The vast majority of our students start with no dance background. We make learning to dance fun and easy, even for beginners. Our certified dance instructors will tailor their teaching to your comfort level and learning style, while moving at your individual pace.

Q: How long will it take to learn?
A: That depends on several factors, which we discuss with you in person on your first visit. The length of your program will depend on how many dances you’d like to learn, how frequently you can come in. your vision for your dancing, where you’d like to use your dancing and any additional goals you might have. With all this being said, we will have you dancing on your first lesson.

Q: How much do lessons cost?
A: Tuition is based on the number of personal sessions you enroll in. Group sessions and practice sessions (a.k.a. dance parties) are included for free. When you come in for your first visit we will discuss your goals, schedule and budget. From there we can work with you to design a program that suits your needs. There is absolutely no obligation to enroll in a program when you come in for your free lesson and consultation. Simply think of it as a test drive of the studio!
